The "Sofra Bucak" tradition. A 15th-century layout. Woven today for your floor.
The Core Oushak represents one of the most architectural compositions in the Uşak tradition, historically known as the "Sofra Bucak" layout. This timeless design is built entirely on symmetry, anchoring the field with a prominent central core (göbek) and balancing it with mirroring corner motifs (bucak), all framed by structured floral geometry.
Evolving into a global symbol of high status during the Ottoman Golden Age, these specific geometric layouts caught the eyes of Renaissance masters like Holbein and Lotto, who featured them as symbols of prestige in portraits of European royalty. Today, we bring this palace tradition back. Not as a museum piece. As functional art for your floor.
This rug carries the Geographical Indication (GI) certificate – a state-protected guarantee that it was woven in Uşak using traditional methods passed down through generations.
Artisenza is an official purveyor of these registered pieces. When you buy one, you receive a legally verified work of art with global recognition.
