An ancient emblem of sovereignty. Tiger stripes and leopard spots. Woven today for your floor.
The Story
The Chintamani pattern is one of the most potent symbols of power and protection in Ottoman design history. Its unmistakable composition features twin undulating waves—representing tiger stripes—paired with a triangular triad of spheres signifying leopard spots. Once the exclusive heraldic emblem of sultans and court elites, this motif moved from imperial silk kaftans and ceramics into the grandest regional carpets.
Woven on deep blue, vibrant yellow, or heritage red grounds, these protective grids quickly crossed into Europe, where Renaissance masters captured them as ultimate symbols of high status in noble estates. Today, we bring this commanding graphic lineage back. Not as a museum piece. As functional art for your floor.
